Our Mission

“Providing equestrians with quality, family-oriented amateur events, educational programs and recreational activities for all equine breeds and disciplines.”

CSHA was founded in 1942 for the purpose of fostering interest in all breeds of horses and forms of horsemanship throughout the State of California.

CSHA has designed a wide range of programs which offer participants opportunities for growth and enjoyment regardless of their type of riding, breed of horse or experience level.

CSHA implements its programs via its 18 geographic regions throughout the State of California. These Regions have elected officers and appointed program chairs who volunteer their time to develop their respective programs and who represent clubs and individuals that participate in various programs offered by the Association.

CSHA is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.

For more information on our mission statement see About Us.

2020 CSHA Convention Cancelled

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions on group gatherings the Board of Directors voted to cancel the annual convention.

In January 2021 the Board of Directors will handle any business issues that will affect association function. There will not be any rules changes by resolution with the convention cancelled however if there any rules that need temporary adjustment to allow a program to function effectively they can be considered. To have a rule or issue considered, submit them in advance to the President.

All Officers and Chairs both State and Region will remain in their positions until elections can take place.

Some regions have found private arenas to hold events or have negotiated with their local city or entity to allow events with the Covid requirements being met.

These have been very individual efforts since every county has a criteria of their own, no one method has been developed except – “talking with those cities or arena owners to achieve an agreement”

It has been a very strange year; let’s keep up our spirits and look forward to some normalization of life. Everyone take care and stay safe.

Jim Hendrickson

CSHA President

On behalf of CSHA and all our equestrians of California. A BIG shout out and Thank You

to all those helping with the evacuation efforts for the current serious fires. There is an overwhelming effort by Rescues Services, Animal Control, Clubs, arenas & stables donating housing, Veterinarians & staff, and many folks helping anyone is need with their time, energy, equipment and compassion! Not to overlook any effort – thank you to everyone

Outbreak-Alert.com  is a great new website that will be invaluable for all horse owners.
It offers the most accurate and up-to-date equine information available.
They only use information from well-known respected sources, such as USDA/APHIS, state veterinarians and state departments of agriculture and confirm in writing, the case and specific details with the state veterinarian involved in writing the report.

Although there are no quarantine times, they use the following for each disease to determine when the threat has passed
and the alert can be removed from the site: 4 months for EHV and Influenza; 9 months for WNV, WEE/EEE, PHF and Rabies.

Go to: www.outbreak-alert.com and type in your zip code.

A map pops up with all the reports in your area. Check it out!
